PENTTBOMB was the official code name given to the investigation into terrorist activities leading up to and including the 09-11-01 attacks on America.  The name was derived from the first three letters of the Pentagon followed by “TT” to signify “Twin Towers”, a common nickname of the World Trade Center.  The last part refers to the bombing of these entities.  Several patches have been issued to commemorate this investigation by various FBI Field Offices.
