As the first issue New Haven SWAT Team patches, the team wanted a design that would reflect the history of the Connecticut area and decided upon a Cannon with a pile of cannonballs stacked in front of it. After receiving the patches, the team decided that the cannonballs looked more like a pile of excrement, and only used the patches for a very short period of time before shelving them. The team went several more years without patches until they began utilizing the lighthouse and eagle versions at a later date.
