This patch was designed in 1980 by SA Mark Lewis and SA Robert Connors, who were both pilots in Chicago.  They wore the small version on some hats and the large version on flight jackets that they had.  Unfortunately, SA Connors, along with three other agents, was killed in the line of duty in a plane crash outside of Cincinnati, Ohio on December 16, 1982.  SA Connors and his fellow agents were transporting a bank fraud suspect and his attorney to Ohio for a hearing.
